Meet the Cast

Main Characters

Bethany – (Erica Diane Sterling) A 26-year-old healer of Robinvale who has no memory of her life before waking up in Orla’s cottage seven years ago. She is sent beyond the valley to request help when the plague breaks out, and along the way she meets the enigmatic Martindale. As the story progresses, she begins to have flashbacks of her previous life, and she learns that the truth of her identity could effect the entire nation of Valoria.

Scott Martindale – (Prescott Martin Beildin) The neglected second son of the duke of Secrest, he enrolled in the Royal Institute of Medicine after being disowned by his father and assumed the name Scott Martindale. He graduated with top honors and was recruited into the King's Elite, the most elite order of knights, as a Sir Medic. After a few years, he was promoted into the King's Twelve, the best twelve knights that form the king and royal family's bodyguards. On his death bed, King Richard gave Martindale the duty of protecting his younger daughter, the princess Erica Diane. At the time of our story, Martindale is 32-years-old.

Arelian Silas Sterling – The youngest son of Lodovicus, Emperor of the Ibravorg Empire, and born to his least favored wife, Arelian was not worth his father’s time. At the age of nineteen, his father arranged his marriage to Princess Rachel Leigh Sterling, eldest child of King Richard of Valoria, to strengthen the two nations' weak relations. Upon King Richard’s death, seven years later, Arelian was crowned as king of Valoria. Within two years, his wife and young son were murdered, the Valorian royal family attempted a coup d’etat, and staunch followers – from merchants to nobility to military troops – of his father immigrated into Valoria. He becomes the center of civic upheaval in Valoria, rumored to be psychotic, and known for his violent temper.

Supporting Characters

Orla – The resident physician of Robinvale, this 69-year-old woman is one of the most renown physicians on the continent. She had been a wandering physician, the head royal physician for the Valorian throne, and a professor and eventually president of the Royal Institute of Medicine. Shortly after her fifteth birthday, she decided to retire and return to her homeland of Robinvale. Seven years ago, the merchants discovered a severely injured young woman on Ilya Pass and brought her to Orla. The woman suffered long-term amnesia from a head injury, and Orla adopted her, named her Bethany, and began to train her in the healing arts.

Galatia – Often called “The Greatest Physician”, this 51-year-old woman was the head royal physician for the royal family before King Richard’s death and somehow, despite her intimacy with the Sterling family, managed to remain in that position after Arelian ascended the throne. (Rumors say that she may be the only person that Arelian actually trusts.) She is also the current president of the Royal Institute of Medicine with some of the greatest medicinal minds on the continent under her authority. She is an old friend of Orla’s and recognizes Bethany as the supposedly dead princess.

He is currently assisting the royals in a plan to overthrow Arelian and reclaim the throne.

Julia Morgan “Sterling” Merrick – The Duchess of Bray, she is the daughter of Prince Edward, King Richard’s younger brother. Her astonishing beauty and grace belay her expert skills with the sword. She and Merrick have two adult children, Timothy Alan and Elizabeth Gail.

Brandon Philip Sterling – The younger brother of Julia, he is the true Duke of Eben, though his title and lands were reclaimed by Arelian and given to an Ibravorgian nobleman. In spite of his intimidating height, muscular form, and knowledge of weaponry and warfare, he is a calm, cautious man. He has a wife, Theresa Ann, and a son, Philip Richard.

Nicholas Brian Sterling – He is the true Duke of Vardon, though his title and lands were also reclaimed by Arelian. He is the younger son of Princess Evelyn, King Richard’s younger sister. His father, elder brother, and brother’s family were massacred by Arelian’s men while traveling on the road from the capital city to the Duchy of Vardon. Nicholas took his aging mother and young wife, Diana Leigh “Beilden” Sterling (Martindale's younger sister), and fled into Bray. While all of the royal family hold the foreign-born king in contempt, Nicholas is unable to keep his emotions is check. He is passionate and rash, though he means well. He now has a young daughter, Miranda Nicole.
