This year's Nanovel is actually a prequel to my novel-in-progress, Healer's Quest.
Synopsis
Before the civil war that divided the nation of Valoria, before the witch hunts that killed some prominent members of the royal family and caused the rest to flee, before the princess Erica's entourage was ambushed and she believed dead, before the brutal assassinations of Queen Rachel and Crown Prince Alan within the supposedly safe walls of the royal palace, there was a boy from the noble family of Beilden.
After a heated disagreement with his father which lead to him being disowned, he assumed the name Scott Martindale and arrived at the gates of the Royal Institute of Medicine with only the clothes on his back and a precious heirloom ring (a gift from his mother on her deathbed) to pay for his six years of schooling, unaware what his future would be and that one day, he would become an Elite Knight, bodyguard of the Valorian king and royal family.
This is the story of his journey. This is the tale of Martindale.
